Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know before booking. Can't find your answer? Get in touch.
What furniture do you assemble?
Flat-pack furniture of all kinds — wardrobes, beds, desks, shelving, storage units and more, from brands like Ikea, Argos and Wayfair.
Do you do wall-mounting or handyman work?
No — Smart Flat-Pack focuses on flat-pack furniture assembly only. Wall-mounting and general handyman jobs aren't offered.
Do you clean up afterwards?
Yes. Every job includes removing all packaging and hoovering the work area before we leave — this is standard, not an add-on.
What areas do you cover?
Smart Flat-Pack is based in Camden and covers all of London — distance isn't a reason to say no. Send your postcode via the contact form and you'll get a straight answer on coverage.
Can you come in the evening or at weekends?
Yes. We work Monday to Friday 5pm–10pm, and Saturday and Sunday 9am–10pm — aimed at people who can't be home during standard working hours.
How long does flat-pack assembly take?
It depends on the item. Smaller pieces like end tables and desks usually take around an hour. Larger items such as beds and sliding-door wardrobes can take up to five hours. For a sense of scale: an IKEA PAX mirrored sliding-door wardrobe took six hours, while a set of B&M coffee tables took 45 minutes.
Do I need to be home during the assembly?
Yes. For the safety of both the team and residents, we require a minimum of two adults to be present at the property during the entire assembly. If only one adult is present, we may ask for more information before proceeding, or offer to reschedule.
How should I prepare before you arrive?
Two adults present at the property, and a clear space for us to work in — that's it, we'll do the rest. Please keep pets clear of the assembly area. If the furniture needs moving from one room to another once built, please make sure there's a clear passageway.
What if parts are missing or damaged in the box?
It depends where the furniture came from. With reliable brands like Ikea, Argos and Wayfair, missing or badly fitting parts are rare. Cheaper brands are where these problems usually show up. It's also worth measuring the space before you buy — furniture that doesn't fit where you wanted it is a more common problem than a faulty box.
What happens if something gets damaged during assembly?
We'll tell you straight away and offer either a repair or a partial refund, depending on the type of damage.
How much will my job cost?
It depends on the furniture and number of items, so pricing isn't published as a flat rate. Get in touch for a free, no-obligation quote.
