Who we are
Smart Flat-Pack is a sole trader business run by Sameer Stephens, providing flat-pack furniture assembly services. This policy explains how we handle personal information you share with us.
What we collect
When you request a quote or get in touch, we may collect your name, phone number, email address, postcode/address, and details of the job you're enquiring about.
How we use it
- To respond to quote requests and enquiries
- To arrange and carry out booked assembly jobs
- To contact you about your booking (timing, access, follow-up)
Analytics and cookies
We use Google Analytics to see how people find and use this site — for example which pages get read most. This sets cookies in your browser and shares some information with Google, including your IP address and the pages you visit. It only runs if you say yes to it — when you first visit, a banner asks for your consent, and Google Analytics stays off unless you accept. We use it only to improve the site, not to identify you personally or for advertising.
You can change your mind at any time using the "Cookie Settings" link in the footer of any page.
We also use Ahrefs Web Analytics for the same purpose — understanding how the site is used. It doesn't use cookies or collect personal data, so it runs regardless of your analytics choice above and isn't part of the consent banner.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your information. It's shared only with the third parties who help us run the site and respond to you:
- Netlify — hosts this website and receives contact form submissions on our behalf.
- Google — provides website analytics (see above).
- Ahrefs — provides website analytics (see above).
Netlify and Google are based in the United States, so your information may be processed there. Where that happens, it's covered by data protection safeguards recognised under UK law, such as the UK's International Data Transfer Addendum or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that don't turn into a booking are kept for up to 12 months, then deleted. Information for a confirmed booking is kept for up to 6 years afterwards, in line with standard UK record-keeping practice for small businesses.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to:
- See what information we hold about you
- Have inaccurate information corrected
- Have your information deleted
- Restrict or object to how we use it
- Receive a copy of it in a portable format
To exercise any of these, contact us using the details below. If you're not satisfied with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator.
